A robot dog called Spot patrols a Singapore park playing a recorded message telling people to observe physical distancing measures.
It's a fact that Corona virus is affecting people around the world. Restaurants being closed and companies advising their employees to try and work at home are the effects of this worldwide disaster.
A notable thing happening at this unprecidented time is the important focus on social distancing. This term is used to describe a way of people maintaining a safe distance, usually about a metre, in between them. It's highly emphasized because it's important in minimising and possibly stopping spreading of Covid 19. And it is because of this that Boston Dynamics, a robotics design firm, designed and made their Robodog named Spot.
Spot has been tasked by Singaporean authorities to help in curbing the transmission of Covid 19 by telling cyclists and runners to keep apart.
The dog conveys its message with a soft feminine voice using the English language. And as Spot moves around you will hear it say messages such as For your own safety and those around you, please stand at least one metre apart. Thank you.
The yellow and black robodog isn't just programmed to just repeat warnings. Boston Dynamics equipped this robot with top quility cameras and analytics tools that assist in calculating the amount of visitors in the park.
The yellow and black robodog looks after about a two-mile section of the park, throughout off peak hours.
The robot dog moves on four legs and gets plenty of surprised glares.
But, the robodog's moving about has not been entirely without controversy.
According to some folks the dog is believed to cause a lot of confusion and angst with some park-goers even people who are more than one metre apart. Basically, park-goers are recoiling every time the dog comes close.
Robodog Spot Is Used In Massachusetts Hospital
Apart from parks, this robot dog has also been deployed throughout hospitals, particularly the review here Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts.
The goal of this is to assist medical practitioners that are in the front in the battle against the Coronavirus.
Equipped with a two-way radio system and having an iPad strapped to {it|its body, the headless Robodog is used as a telemedicine platform.
Spot also designed to be utilised in other fields like power, building sites and in nuclear facilities.
